When Oppo announced the launch of the Find N2 Flip in Kenya this past May, the buzz was palpable. Flip phones have always held a certain nostalgia for many of us, reminiscent of an era before full-touch smartphones. I attended the launch in Nairobi so it did take some time to get a review unit and I was more than keen when I finally got it a few weeks ago.
Yet, this isn’t just any flip phone — it’s a piece of modern tech art. The build quality and attention to detail are stellar and given that this is Oppo’s first-ever flip phone I am impressed at what they have accomplished on their very first attempt. This is a very well-designed and built smartphone showing the statement of intent for Oppo to be a major contender in the future for the fast-growing foldable smartphone category.
The transition from its launch price of Kes. 130,000.00 to Kes. 115,000.00 signals its growing adoption and appreciation among Kenyan consumers. Indeed, foldable smartphones bring something new to the market and younger consumers love the ‘flex’ of something that is not quite that common. We know for a fact that this phone was launched as a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series of which the latest version is the Z Flip 5 which will be available in Kenya by the end of August 2023.
In today’s post, I’m diving deep into the #OPPOFindN2Flip and seeing if it truly allows us to #SeeMoreInASnap.
Overview.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip promises to revolutionize flip phone experiences. It’s not just a device that flips open; it’s a top-tier experience with a striking flagship screen and a near-invisible crease line which will set a high bar for the competition going forward.
As an amateur and aspiring photographer myself, the cherry on top is its Hasselblad-tuned cameras. The Hasselblad name conjures images in my mind of the world’s finest photography so having lenses with this lineage on the Find N2 Flip shows that Oppo did not compromise in this regard.
Design and Cover Screen.
The design is where this smartphone makes its first impression. It is chic, and compact, and comes in two tantalizing colours: Astral Black and Moonlit Purple.
Oppo Kenya gave me a Moonlit Purple shade which feels somewhat feminine but it looked really good irrespective and has a premium appearance.
Adding to the aesthetics is its weight and dimensions. At just 191g and a slim 7.45mm thickness, it’s surprising how much tech Oppo packed into such a sleek package.
Biggest Cover Screen of its Kind.
3.26 inches might not sound like much, but when it’s on the cover of a flip phone, it’s massive! This cover screen isn’t just large; it’s smart. From quick replies across popular messaging apps to navigating your settings, the Find N2 Flip’s cover screen stands out from the rest.
I found myself using the cover screen often for quick replies to notifications without having to open it up which is really handy in scenarios where you don’t want it to be so intrusive as would normally be the case with a candy bar style smartphone.
There is something about using a flip phone in this manner which is quite different in this regard as it feels like it just disappears into the background when you fold it away but still have access to the cover screen when you need it.
Main Display.
Unfolding the device is an experience in itself. With its 6.8-inch LTPO, E6 AMOLED display, it has cinema-like visuals with crisp clarity. The screen brightness goes up to 1,600 nits and with a proprietary anti-reflection film, it ensures a comfortable viewing experience regardless of lighting conditions. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate meaning it looks sharp but is also smooth when you scroll.
I personally like to run all my smartphone screens at almost always full brightness and this one is bright, crisp, and clear. The size of the screen is also quite large so it’s a great thing that it folds meaning that it ends up being compact when you need to put it away in your pocket.
De-Crease and Durability.
One word: Flexion Hinge! This new-generation hinge gives the Find N2 Flip an almost imperceptible crease, even after extensive usage. Backed by TÜV Rheinland certification and rigorous testing, the durability of this device is off the charts. 400,000 folding cycles? That’s a decade-plus of rigorous use without a hiccup!
I personally couldn’t see or recognize the crease at all after using it for two weeks or thereabouts. Again, I am super impressed at how well Oppo built its very first flip phone. The flexion hinge also feels smooth and sturdy when you flip it open or close it and this is one of the areas where you really need that to be flawless when it comes to flip phones.
Flagship Camera.
Co-developed with Hasselblad, the camera specs are mouth-watering. From a 50MP main sensor equipped with Sony’s IMX890 to an 8MP ultra-wide and 32MP front camera, photography enthusiasts will have a field day. The camera suite ensures crisp photos, wide-angle shots, and crystal-clear video calls.
I took a fair number of photos and like most Oppo smartphones out there the quality is stunning and this is further augmented by the Hasselblad lenses that are on it. It’s rare to get such good capabilities in such a compact smartphone package using the latest technology.
Performance & Storage.
One of the pivotal aspects that often differentiates a flagship phone from the rest of the pack is its performance prowess and storage capabilities. So, let’s delve into what the Oppo Find N2 Flip brings to the table in this department.
At the heart of the Find N2 Flip lies the Snapdragon 680 4G processor. While this might not be the top-tier Snapdragon chip, it’s robust enough to handle most tasks with ease. Efficiency and performance are balanced, ensuring that your phone doesn’t just run well, but also conserves battery life in the process.
With a generous 8GB of RAM, multitasking is a breeze. Whether you’re flipping through social media apps, streaming videos, or playing resource-intensive games, the Find N2 Flip ensures a lag-free experience.
Coupled with 256GB of onboard storage, there’s ample space for all your files, photos, videos, and apps. Gone are the days when you’d have to pick and choose which memories to keep and which apps to uninstall due to limited storage. This device comfortably caters to both casual and power users alike.

Battery & Charging.
Oppo has clearly gone above and beyond to eradicate flip phone battery anxiety. With a 4300mAh battery and cutting-edge optimizations, the Find N2 Flip promises extended usage. The 44W SUPERVOOC charge capability, allowing the battery to go from nearly empty to 50% in just 23 minutes, is the icing on the cake.
Battery woes are truly a thing of the past with this device. I personally found the recharging to work really well and fast and the battery life for extended periods was really good. This is the same sort of experience I have had for close to a year of using my trusty daily driver the Oppo Reno 8 5G which also has SUPERVOOC charging.
Final Thoughts.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip isn’t just a smartphone; it’s a statement. I can’t tell you how many times people would stop me to take a closer look at it whenever I took it out of my pocket as it’s clearly a head turner and looks quite unlike anything else out there even though it does share some of the visual design elements of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
However, for those looking to combine the nostalgic feel of a flip phone with modern-day tech, this device is a dream come true. Packed with features and backed by robust technology, it’s evident that for those looking to stand out from the smartphone crowd and make a statement, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is a worthy contender.
