Looking for some search engines other than Google? There is a better search engine than Google – more than one actually. Here are some options.

A while back I published an article about 7 search engines other than Google. That was over 5 years ago and things change so today, I’m providing you with our updated list.
If you’re looking for alternative search engines to Google, you’ll find 5 really great options here.
When looking for other search engines besides Google, this time around I decided to stay away from the big boys like Bing and Yahoo and opt for those which were more privacy focused and environmentally conscious. My favorite is #5.
Here are my 5 best search engines other than Google that protect your privacy.
1. Brave
More well known for their super private and amazingly fast browser that allows you to earn cryptocurrency just by browsing, the search engine by Brave has become my default search engine.
It’s largely a matter of opinion, but I’d say Brave search is clearly a better search engine than Google with highly relevant results. Brave also seems to be right on par with Google when it comes to filtering out spammy websites and other low quality content.
2. DuckDuckGo
If Google’s privacy issues freak you out, then DuckDuckGo is a great option to switch to. Whether you’re in private browsing mode or not, DuckDuckGo won’t track you.
DuckDuckGo presents a clean, no-nonsense approach to Internet searches. It’s also fast and returns very good search results. It’s a good alternative to Google because the search results are present in a familiar layout for Google users. There’s almost zero adjustment to the UI switch.
DuckDuckGo is on a short search engine list of non-tracking search providers. If you’re searching for a product that you don’t want to see ads for all over your Facebook page, stop here first.
3. Startpage
Another privacy-focused search engine, Startpage, is an excellent alternative to the Google machine. Startpage doesn’t save your searches and uses absolutely zero cookies or trackers. It claims to be “The world’s most private search engine.”
Startpage pulls much of their search results directly from the Google index without passing your information over to them. The result are searches just as good as Google without all your private information flying across the digital space.
4. Search Encrypt
Search Encrypt is another search engine highly devoted to end-user privacy. It has a very clean interface without much distraction.
Another nice feature is that it automatically deletes your search history after 30 minutes of browser inactivity. You never have to remember to clear your search history with Search Encrypt.
Search Encrypt uses encryption to protect your searches and help stop you from being tracked and followed based on your search history.
5. Ecosia
Ecosia is a search engine with the ecosystem in mind. Ecosia uses their income to help the environment and having planted over 152 million trees around the world, they’re making a real difference.
I use Ecosia’s addon in my Brave browser as my default search and love how fresh it feels. In my opinion, Ecosia is absolutely a better search engine than Google, not just in the way it handles your privacy, but how it helps the environment.
Google Search Sucks!
Actually, no it doesn’t. At the end of the day, Google still returns quality results over and above most of its competitors. But there is a price that convenience.
If you’re looking for some other search engines besides Google, the ones covered in this post are sure to please even the most picky of Internet users.
Give them a try and let me know what you think in the comments.
