Google unveiled a brand new UI styling called Material You with Android 12. It extracts colors from the phone’s home screen wallpaper and uses it across the operating system for various UI elements. Samsung implemented the same feature under the Color Palette branding, and it shows up in several apps.

Material UI styling started appearing on the Gboard keyboard app a few weeks ago, but it was limited to Pixel smartphones. Now, the feature is rolling out to non-Pixel devices, including Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Devices running One UI 4.0 (or newer) have this feature if the beta version of Gboard (v11.5.05.427194903) is installed.

Splashes of wallpaper-inspired colors can be seen on the backspace, comma, period, shift, and symbol switcher keys. Some circular buttons can be seen, too, which is a part of the Material You design. The same color theming also appears to be active in floating and one-handed modes.

This extra dash of color looks quite appealing to us. Have you started seeing this feature on your Android 12-running Galaxy smartphone or tablet? Let us know in the comments section below.
