Marvel unveils the poster confirming live-action zombies and Captain Carter will appear in the film. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel takes place after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, WandaVision and season 1 in which the titular sorcerer is continuing his research into the Time Stone. However, when the doors to the multiverse remain broken open and unleash a mysterious new adversary, Doctor Strange must team with new and old allies to protect the world.
Benedict Cumberbatch is returning to lead the cast of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as both the prime version of the sorcerer and multiple versions of the character, including Defender Strange and Strange Supreme, alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams. The film will also mark the MCU debuts of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez and director Sam Raimi, who replaces original co-writer/director Scott Derrickson following his departure due to creative differences. With just over two months remaining until the sequel’s arrival, Marvel is looking to keep anticipation high for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In time for a new trailer premiering during the Super Bowl, Marvel has revealed the official Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness poster. The key art for the MCU sequel teases the multiple variants set to be seen in the film as well as the confirmation of a Captain Carter appearance with her shield seen in the lower right corner and live-action zombies featured in the lower left corner. Check out the exciting poster below:
The first Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness poster marks an exciting new look at what’s to come from the long-awaited sequel. The tease of Captain Carter and Marvel Zombies proves to be an interesting hint at the alternate reality nature of the story. The first trailer for the film revealed Cumberbatch to be playing a villainous variant of the hero akin to the Doctor Strange Supreme seen in the Disney+ What If…? series, where Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter and the zombies previously made their MCU debuts.
While the trailer didn’t offer any crystal looks at Atwell’s return as the heroic version of her character as teased in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness poster, it did hint at plenty of other exciting avenues to come from the sequel. The most interesting of the reveals from the new trailer is that of Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X from Fox’s X-Men franchise, pointing towards the creatives behind the film ready to explore as many corners of the Marvel universe as possible for the multiverse story. Only time will tell who else may appear in the film when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
